Racha Yai Island

A popular free dive destination. Only around 20 kilometers south of Phuket.

Koh Racha Yai ( เกาะราชาใหญ่) is a popular year-round dive destination for local and foreign free divers. It is only around 20 kilometers south of Phuket. The eastern sites provide the clearest visibility compared to other local areas.

Several local dive operators based in Phuket offer guided free diving trips and courses to the island.

  • Visibility: Typically 15-25meters

  • Depth Range: Typically 5-30 meters but recommended for max 20 meters

  • Water Temperature: Warm year-round (around 30°C)

  • Water Conditions: Calm waters, minimal currents

  • Seasonality: Best from November until May / Monsoon from June to October

  • Transportation:  around 1 hr from Chalong Pier

  • Local rules: Do not touch marine life, Prohibited Spearfishing
